People need to quit whining that life isn’t fair. Part of living in a broken and sin filled world means that we will constantly be fighting situations in our life that are not fair. Some people will have more money than others. Other people will have better talents. Some people will be smarter than others. I don’t care who you are, you are not going to be the greatest or most successful person. There is always going to be someone better than you, smarter than you, stronger than you, and richer than you. That is life so deal with it.

What is important to keep in mind is that though in the world life isn’t fair, there is however one thing that is equal for everyone. The one thing that is always equal is salvation. Everyone is offered the same gift, had their sins paid for equally by Jesus’s sacrifice at the cross and will have equal access to heaven. The one thing that is the most important to our eternal salvation is free, evenly distributed to everyone and makes salvation equally accessible. The next time you are moping about how life isn’t fair, remember that Jesus made an even field for everyone with his free gift of salvation.

Complaining about how life isn’t fair overlooks our individual talents.

When you were created, God gifted you certain unique talents. You may be an excellent singer. Some people are very good at building things. Other people are talented at sports. No matter what your gift is, understand that someone else would love to have the gift that you have been given. We live in a world of discontentment. People always want what they don’t have and often take for granted things that they do have. If you can’t come up with a special talent, look at what God has blessed you with. Some people are completely healthy, and other people may have a terminal illness.

People claim that life isn’t fair because sometimes good people struggle, and other times bad people are successful. You were never promised that life would be fair living in a broken and sinful world. The fairness doctrine comes from your mind and the expectations that you have in life. Just because you expect something does not mean that it will become a reality. Some people work very little and have a lot and other people work very hard and have very little.

The one way to fix the faux standard of fairness in your life is to be grateful for what you do have. Each day on earth is a gift. Make the most out of your gift and quit complaining about how life isn’t fair when you are in control of your actions. Instead of praying for God to make your life fair, why not pray a prayer of thankfulness to God. Changing your attitude from expectations to gratefulness will improve your life far more than any wish from a genie would.
