We are often sold a counterfeit Jesus by faux Christians. There is a never-ending lecture about love from this group of people. Except the love being peddled is not an agape love as demonstrated in the Bible. The word love is cheap and often misused. Their intent is to weaken and minimize who Jesus is. They aim to diminish the Gospel by humanizing Jesus instead of glorifying him as our savior. Most of the counterfeit Jesus is being sold by weak and malice faux Christians. They do this because they take advantage of people looking for a higher calling. Making a cheap Jesus doesn’t require them to speak the truth, but rather to avoid confrontation from not reading the word of God.
Fairytales are the kind of stories that have an exaggerated plot while rarely looking at the reality of the situation. We have all heard the story about Jack and the Bean Stock, Little Red Riding Hood, and Beauty and the Beast. Faux Christian’s make a counterfeit Jesus to fit into the same mold. Instead of telling children to plant magic beans to reach the giants in the clouds, these faux Christian’s create a counterfeit Jesus. These leaders of fairy tales fill their congregations’ heads with repeated lies in order to make them feel comfortable. One thing that is always missing from the story is the truth.
Counterfeit Jesus is of the devil.
Anything other than Jesus as our Lord and savior is a fake, counterfeit Jesus. Jesus does not accept your sin; he tells you to turn from it. Jesus doesn’t say that your works and good deeds will get you into heaven, he says I am all that you need. Jesus demands repentance and makes it clear that there is no other way to the father except through him. When you hear the words “affirming”, know that your house of worship is following a counterfeit Jesus. The leaders of your church are manipulating you with lies. They are building a safe place for the devil to roam. Afterall, the devil is the master of deceit.
The secular world also loves to worship a counterfeit Jesus. There are varying levels of blasphemy that must be understood. Blasphemy of the son is a forgivable sin, but blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the unforgiveable sin. Meaning that you can be forgiven for creating a counterfeit Jesus should you change your ways and repent from your sin. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is unforgiveable because it means that the individual is intentionally denying and rejecting the truth of the Gospel. In this situation, there is no repentance and no change of heart. Unrepentant people will not be forgiven of their sins.
Cheap grace tries to tell people that they can do whatever they want, and a loving God will forgive them. They put the blame back on God and say that if he doesn’t show grace, then he isn’t a loving God after all. This is why grace must ALWAYS be tied to repentance. Repentance then grace is the real Jesus. If there was no accountability for sin, then there would be no change in heart. If the heart isn’t changed and the Holy Spirit is still rejected, then the behavior has become the unforgiveable sin. Accountability lays out our free will choice. Repent or ignore our sin. God doesn’t ignore sin and cannot be in the presence of sin. Without Jesus bridging the gap between a repentant sinner and a Holy God, we would not be able to enter Heaven.
Understand the difference between Jesus our savior and a counterfeit Jesus. Your soul and where you will spend eternity depend on it.
Luke 12:10 New American Standard Bible

31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. 32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
Mark 3:29 New American Standard Bible
29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—
