There are two types of people in this world. Those who are spirit led and those are led by Satan. There isn’t another option. Being spirit led means that you have accepted Christ as your personal savior and are now filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides your life, comforts your soul and speaks into the decisions that you make. Being Satan led is to be without the Holy Spirit. If you are not yoked to Christ, then you are yoked to something else. Since we can only serve one God, anything that we support or worship other than God is from Satan.
When you look at how people live out their lives, it is pretty easy to see who is spirit led vs led by Satan. When someone is spirit led, there are good fruits that the person bears. Fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Obviously with any group there are varying levels of commitment to action. The difference between someone who is spirit led and someone who is not isn’t just about how they act. How respond to adversity, work through our struggles and recover from our weaknesses is a huge defining difference between the two groups of people.
Being spirit led is a choice.
People that are spirit led have made a choice to follow Jesus. You cannot wish for someone to be spirit led or demand that someone be spirit led. That is not how being filled with the Holy Spirit works. It is a complete life transformation where everything in your life points back to Christ. With the latest political season coming to an end, there are many opinions coming from people about the results of the election. I am not going to get into specific names or party affiliations. I am simply going to comment on the behavior of being spirit led or led by Satan.
When we vote for a candidate being spirit led, we seek to preserve the moral compass of Christ in our political leaders. Knowing that laws and rules affect how we are able to carry out our religious beliefs, we vote for the person that will do the best job ensuring that we retain liberty and freedom so that we can make those choices for ourselves. My blog from the other day laid out many Bible verses about how we are supposed to choose our political leaders biblically. Being spirit led means that we are to seek out what the Bible says we are supposed to look for in our political leaders. While often our political leaders fall short of perfection, we still need to understand that God is ultimately in control of the situation and knows the heart of the individual.
Being Satan led navigates elections by choosing the candidate that will most likely stray from the Bible. Just because someone says that they are a Christian does not mean that you should support them at the ballot box. Policy decisions that are blatantly laid out in the Bible must be followed by the biblical standard. If a campaign is run on issues that attack the word of God, speak lies to biblical truths and point people away from Christ, then the campaign is Satan led. God is not going to honor a campaign that mocks him and spits in his face. Followers of Christ should stay away from supporting these candidates at all costs.
God ultimately decides who wins and who doesn’t. It is not for us to understand why he makes the decisions that he makes. Some campaigns are meant to be a punishment upon the people who have strayed from the word of God. Other campaigns are full of grace that God has showed his people. Many times, there are opportunities found when the smoke clears to share the word of God with others. When you are spirit led, you should always be on mission. Every day is a new day to go back into the mission field and become a fisher of men. We are tasked with sharing the Gospel and speaking truth into a world filled with lies. An election is a very small part of a victory. The true victory we have is found in Jesus. Remember that and don’t forget who we serve. God, not man.
